Wakeboarding is not safe unless you have wakeboard vests. Investing in good wakeboard vests should be one of your first moves when you decide to make wakeboarding a hobby. Getting familiar with your vest and how to properly use it will facilitate your comfort and use of the vest as you head out on the water.

As with any other piece of your gear, there are standard things you should look for in wakeboard vests. The minimum requirement when it comes to wakeboard vests is a Type III PFD. This will keep you afloat and safe as you board. Many people do not realize the importance of vests in keeping you afloat during this exciting and challenging hybrid of air and water sport.

Wakeboard vests are as unique as their users. You will definitely find one to match your style and budget. The most important thing about wakeboard vests is that they keep you safe and afloat when you are in the water. Still, it can’t be denied that they are also a fashion accessory. So you want to get one that will help you stand out among the crowd.

You want to be sure you get your vest in the appropriate size. It should be snug, but not too tight. It should also have a little extra room incase you gain some weight. The best idea is to buy high quality wakeboard vests with a bit of a give, so that you can still use it if you were to gain some weight. You will want to do some research so you can tell which vests are good quality and which are not worth the money.

There are different wakeboard vests and sizes; size will be determined by the circumference of your chest. You will want to measure your chest size and then add a few inches to get the size of your vest. Your height and the length of your torso will also be factors as you select a vest. Of course, you will want to try on any vest before you buy it. if you decide to buy online, be sure there is a good return policy in the even that your vest doesn’t fit.
Wakeboard Vests For Both Sexes!

Wakeboard vests are gender specific, meaning men and women have separate vests. Yes, women can wear men’s vests, but the best vests for women are the ones designed especially for them. These give more freedom of movement and also have a bit of feminine flair. In addition, women’s vests are usually shorter than men’s are, and the fit will be more snug and tailored.

One of your most essential equipment pieces will be your wakeboard rope. This is the line that connects you to your boat. The quality of your rope has a significant impact on your safety and enjoyment while wakeboarding. While the wakeboard rope will maintain your connection to the boat, you cannot rely on this for total support. You must learn how to balance yourself steadily on your wakeboard while it is being pulled and as you go through wakes.

If you have ever surfed or skied, then you are ahead of the game when it comes to balancing on a wakeboard. If not, practice makes perfect. This is an important skill to master because poor balance is a safety hazard and you do not want to become entangled in the rope while on the water. Your first step to practice with the rope is to float on your back in the water. From this position, you can be pulled to upright with your wakeboard rope as your boat begins to move.

When you are deciding which wakeboard rope to buy, it is important to understand the purpose of the rope and its different rope features. You never want to use an old ski or tow rope as a replacement. Getting the right equipment is very important. Unlike other ropes you may have used, this rope is very taught and resistant to stretching. This means that you will not have to deal with recoiling while you are in the air. In addition to resisting stretch, you will need a rope of the appropriate length. Ski and tow ropes are often much longer than a standard wakeboard rope.

Ropes come in a variety of lengths ranging from 60 to 70 feet. These lengths are for different styles of riding and different ability levels. Some ropes come in one long length and can be adjusted to the length that you need. You will also want to consider that rope quality will effect flexibility. A rope made of Spectra will not stretch as much as a rope made from Polyethylene. If your goal is lots of hangtime and awesome tricks, then you want to get a tighter rope.

If you are a beginner, then a shorter rope, about 45-50 feet, is the most appropriate for you. If you don’t think you are getting enough air because the rope is too long, then you can shorten the rope. If you feel too close to the wake’s wash, then you may want to lengthen the rope.

To recap, short ropes equal less air. This is because they limit your maximum height. You can attach your rope to the back of your boat or to your wakeboard tower. The latter will boost you up and allow you to do more tricks. Wakeboard towers come in many different styles of varying quality in many price ranges.

Getting some accessories could add just the right amount of awesome to your wakeboarding. You can trick out your wakeboard towers with light and sound equipment. Not only will you look cool, but you also increase nighttime visibility. And don’t forget your safety gear, including a helmet, to protect yourself from getting hurt.

Lots of people are finding out that wakeboarding is the ideal sport for them. It’s a new way to have fun, be fit, and release your creative juices. Just about anyone can get into this popular fun-filled sport.

Now that you have decided to be a wakeboarder, you need to get the right gear. You will want to familiarize yourself with all of the equipment before you spend any money. Ask other riders what wakeboarding equipment they use and look around online to get ideas about the wakeboarding equipment you should have. Here are some basics about the gear you will need.

Wakeboard Equipment: The Boat dude!
Obviously a boat is an essential feature of your wakeboarding equipment. Before you begin, you will need to make sure that your boat has been modified to accommodate a wakeboard. Many people assume that you can just use a waterskiing boat. While these two sports do look very similar, there is a key difference between the two. Waterskiers prep their boats so that they have smooth water, no wakes. As a wakeboarder, clearly, you want wakes, and lots of them. Getting a good wake is key to being a good wakeboarder.

You can use pretty much any boat to go wakeboarding; however, boats with a tournament inboard are the best. A ski boat will give your driver the most control and you the best wakes, as their handling and power is exceptional. To make some wakes, you just need to add on some weight. This can be done by adding bags of water to your boat. Most people use a brand called Fat Sacs. Adding a sac to both sides of your boat’s engine (that’s 600 lbs total) should be enough to get you some decent wakes that are about a foot high. If you still seem to be skimming the water, then you need to create larger wakes.

To get even more airtime, you will have to use an extended pylon. Most people use the Skylon brand. Using this will give you more hangtime during your halfcabs by allowing you to create a sharp upward pull with minimal effort. You’ll have more time in the air to make your moves memorable. You’ll be one of the coolest ones on the water when you combine your big wakes with a skylon.

Wakeboarding equipment – Cant Wake Without The Rope!
Wakeboarding roped come in a variety of materials that include Tak, Spectra, and Spectra-Fusion. These ropes have no stretch and look similar to shoelaces. The standard rope length is 60 feet. (In case you were considering it, you should know that this is 15 feet less than a ski rope.) For those who want longer ropes, you can order custom lengths.

Wakeboarding Equipment – Dude, Where’s My Wake Board?
Every real wakeboarder has his own wakeboarding equipment. That means you have your own board. Don’t go in for a group board with your pals. It will never be yours and you won’ be able to ride to the best of your abilities. Gettign your own board means it can be customized just for you: your weight, your height, your style. Wakeboarding technology can get outdated pretty quickly, so you want to get the newest board possible. You never want to look like you borrowed your little brother’s board; or worse your dad’s wakeboarding equipment. So save yourself some embarrassment and get your own gear.

Wakeboarding Euquipment – Gotta’ Have The Boots!
Just like we’re not sharing boards, you also don’t want to share boots. Adjustable straps are a major no-no. They will destroy any credibility you have as a wakeboarder. Do you really want to be the laughing stock of the lake all season? If you’re not in a tow-in on the shores of Hawaii, then you need to be wearing boots; your own boots. If your friends call you stingy, tell them you have foot fungus. They’ll understand. Some preferred boot models are Hyperlite Storm Troopers, Liquid Force Super Suctions, Wiley’s and Bad Ass Bindings. They look good and have lots of features.

If you’re serious about being a wakeboarder, then it’s essential that you have all of the necessary wakeboarding equipment: a boat, ropes, board, and boots.

Wakeboard tower racks are really a big help when it comes to organizing your wakeboard gear. However, wakeboard towers were made to give you additional height and time to remain airborne so that you can execute more tricks. With added airtime it means you can have more hang time, giving you more time to perform longer tricks in mid-air.

Wondering why wakeboard rope are fastened on a ski pole or a tow hook at a lower part of the wakeboard boat and tied to an eight feet high wakeboard tower? Because it gives the rider an advantage of being pulled on a higher point that can change the angle of towing and makes better anticipation of a loft during a big air jump.

Have you seen wakeboard riders being pulled down right after being airborne? That’s because they don’t have wakeboard towers installed and also because of the low point; however when you have a wakeboard tower, you can have more fun in the air before the tow point pulls you back on the surface of the water.

Wakeboard towers are very useful to riders because they can put and arrange their new and old wakeboards on the wakeboard tower racks to avoid it from scattering every where on the boat. A wakeboard tower rack is design in various sleek powerful shapes, and usually comes in black and chrome colors. It regularly comes when you purchase a wakeboarding boat. Things to consider when purchasing wakeboard tower racks, check what materials they’re made of, if its durable enough, and of course if it will fit into your budget. Browse some wakeboard tower racks reviews before buying one, to know the full details about it.

There are companies who offer making customized wakeboard tower racks. It ensures better safety for the rider but it is more expensive than a standard wakeboard tower rack

If you decide to buy a wakeboard tower rack, talk to a manufacturer about letting their people install the newly bought wakeboard tower rack, just to avoid using it the wrong way or potentially ruining the rack

We’ve taken the time to find some of the best deals online for new wakeboard tower racks, Check em’ out:
